This is from a collection on open ending ramblings that I've typed up over the last month. Other stories will go up in this series that may reference each other but are not set in the same story.
Kidd glared from where Killer was propping him up - the two forcing each other to stand - to refuse to bend the knee to the new Pirate King.
Kidd would rather die than kneel to Luffy.
But Pirate King Luffy - he wanted a world that was free. He would never ask anyone to kneel to him.
Those red eyes and charismatic smile focused on them, and Kidd sneered back. But Luffy's focus wasn't on his fellow captain, but on Killer.
"I'm going to make everyone free." Luffy promised, "So they can laugh and smile because there are no more burdens."
He held Killer's battered face in his hands, Kidd frozen in place, heart in his throat, scared to intervene. Luffy brushed Killer's bangs away, only one in a handful of people to ever lock eyes with the man.
The King's grin softened, and then he closed his own eyes and kissed Killer's forehead tenderly.
Kidd's outrage was lost amongst the pounding of both their hearts, and Killer stared back at Luffy in awe as the King pulled away. Luffy gently rearranged Killer's bangs and pressed their foreheads together.
Tears streamed down Killer's cheeks as his captain raged beside him. He said nothing.
"I'm not here to take anyone's fruit away... just to free those who didn't want them in the first place."
Luffy stood back, eyes kind, grinning at Kidd. He'd done nothing for their wounds; grievous and possibly fatal. But he'd freed them both from the weight of Wano, so they could build back up again.
Once his partner was released, Kidd disregarded Luffy completely, hands filling the place Luffy's had just been, "Killer?"
Killer only shook his head, tears still falling. He smiled briefly at Kidd... then the smile fell away. Kidd's heart nearly stopped before he was pulling his partner in tight; a hug that would crush a lesser man.
Kidd would never bend a knee. But. "Thank you," his words lost into Killer's hair. But Luffy heard, "Monkey D. Luffy.... Pirate King."
