there's not much more than can be done.

Without stealing a body from a human, or trying to shove his angel into a corpse, Aziraphale is left formless, tucked but against his side, but lost to nearly all his senses.

There's a prickle to his skin, the sense that he's wandered to close to a holy artifact, but he can't touch the angel, can't caress him, hold him, comfort him.

He can't see him, or taste him, or smell him.

he's only grateful that Aziraphale has been in a similar state when he was whole, and has already figured out how to talk to him. he tries his best to play it cool, but as best as Crowley can tell, Aziraphale can't see or touch him either, nor anything else in this realm.

he has refused Mme Tracy's help this time around. the world was ending last time; she had just as much to lose as he did, which is why he accepted the risk.

It was only he know in danger of disappearing, and he didn't know if putting his damaged essence inside her frail human form could damage her.

He didn't know if once inside - he would care.

They'd fought over it, before Aziraphale finally broke down and admitted - what if he refused to leave? what if they couldn't get a body, and he stole her's? He refused to put her in danger; when Crowley tried to argue that he wouldn't do that, Aziraphale had cried.

he just didn't know if that was true anymore

they'd torn him out of his corporation - Crowley would have to address that one day - and once in the human realm Crowley felt Aziraphale slip from his sight as he himself slid back into the mortal realm. He couldn't feel his angel in his arms as the material world formed around him, but Crowley /knew/ he was still there, just as he knew that (....)

Time had started somewhere on his desperate escape, and Crowley held his burden close as he fled the stairwell to disappear into the shadows of the grey (realm)

His gut reaction would have been to take Aziraphale back to his bookshop - the feel of home hopefully would keep him sane until Crowley found a better way to keep the angel tethered here.

But Micheal would be itching to retaliate for their recent discorperation. And Crowley sure how long the archangels would be distracted by the throne's he'd set loose.

no... no hunkering down right now put too big of a target on them. he needed to get Aziraphale back into a body, and he needed to get them somewhere unfamiliar to either of their past sides.

---

He'd never had the displeasure of meeting Shadwell at the man's home, but he'd called enough that he had the man's home number memorized, and getting an address wasn't much of a stretch. Crowley was just hoping that Nice Woman still was close to him. hopefully Shadwell could lead me to her and she could help him keep Aziraphale safe until he could procure a body. he didn't want the woman involved any further if he could help it, but he needed her help in the interim.

"did… did Micheal know you could see?" "I always believed so," (prince) murmured sadly, looking at Heavens newest prisoner, form contorted in agony before being frozen for eternity. Unlike the pillars of the great hall, this one was a simpler affair, almost unnoticeable with the fake facade - or in this case, true pillar - mirroring it on the otherwise of the entryway to the archangels private areas. meditative areas, they claimed. honestly, the true nature of the area beyond was something for Prince and the other thrones to deal with; the only part Crowley cares about was the mutilated celestial that had been hidden away, yet on display as a sick trophy one the archangels knew about. they'd put his angel on display right under everyone's noses. but it seemed that they're pride has not been without a price, yet another one Aziraphale had been forced to pay. blank voids ripples in space to look at them, but no eyes stared back, all of them haven been blinded at some point. Aziraphale's form swirled in a vaguely humanoid shape, a tell of his millennia in such a body, but even then, the place where his face would have been was nothing more then an open angry wound, gaping accusingly back at him. Crowley caressed the barrier between him and the angel, biting his lips to hold back the string of ugly words that would do nothing to help at this time. he couldn't let it go - not yet. there was once thing, one thing he had to clear up with Prince before he could go on. He was a demon - he shouldn't care. But he did. "You could have hidden this from me. I've barely freed any of your lot. Why not hid him until I'd done more?" "Do not think me as selfless as that Demon Crowley. I let you free four of my fellow dissenters before i brought you here." "four. FOUR? oh, yeas, how cruel of you, to string me along for four angels out of thousands more to go" he snarled, bitter and angry, and not really sure who he was lashing out at the moment as sarcasms tainted his words. Did these angels even know what sarcasm was? "I believe we have enough now that we will not easily be swept away again. We will try avoiding a full on rebellion, but there are enough of us now to cause a shift in the statue quo that was been heaven for... to long. More would be wonderfully to have, but there is also a sad truth that i muss face. "You don't have the power to free many more. I think you have enough left for one, but that... may be all. At least i you want to retain enough power to still be able to escape when time begins it march once again. I could have let you go on, destroy yourself freeing the others. but when you i even get another demon back here to help me? "You see - it's purely a calculated move. no feelings involved, yours or mine." "You think i would come back, even if.. Aziraphale was free. that i'd come back and help you?" "The fact you helped us at all proves that you would be open to such an arrangement. So consider this a simply apart of that." "An arrangement..." "From what i have come to understand, you have held a very successful arrangement with another angel in the past, one that you both came out ...much better for have entered." "You overheard a lot int hat hall did you?" "Not a thing. but i saw much. And even angels say quite a bit without words." Prince nudged Crowley to the pillar, solemn. "Can you feel the other part of this, Crowley? The rest of the mystery?" The ripples opened, one on either side of his hand on the smooth clear prison. like Aziraphale knew he was there, and was greeting him in the only way he could. "Have you figured out why you couldn't find him - why he felt like he was everywhere to you?" "Because you where everywhere..." Crowley realized, his vision swimming as tears gathered against his will, ""You bastard, you the one who stopped time..." "More like he's holding it in a headlock." Prince conceded . "Even blinded, I can feel him stretching past the prison. I'm not sure even i can describe who when's done, but... i'm fairly certain that it will only hold until you free him. After that, there should be enough of my thrones left that we can cover the two of you returning to earth. There'll be enough chaos here foe a bit that the archangels won't have the ability to bother you for some time." "You hear that angel," Crowley smiled, ignoring the fresh wave of tears on his cheeks, "it's time to go home."

Nothing looked special about this particular throne at first, but once Crowley freed them, the angel remained looking at him, stoic and calm, even as Quelamia differed themselves before them. The other angels had exploded in power when released, like stretching out after being forced still for too long.

this one barely moved, the only sign it was free was the flicker of inter flame and the slow rotation of their wheels.

Crowley wasn't sure what he'd just freed, but he felt nervous for the first time.

"I believe i heard you are called Crowley," the throne said finally, and Crowley found himself nodding mutely.

"The archangels have spoken of you quite a lot in recent times. A real thorn in their side it seems. Along with a Principality."

"Aziraphale." he offered, "I'm came here to find him."

"I've never heard of a Principality by that name; where they created post rebellion?"

"I un.. nah, i think he fought in it, actually? We uh... we don't talk about it if we can help it."

"I see." the wheels turned lazily, and it regarded Quelamia, "have them look for anyone they don't know; Gabriel seemed the most aggravated by these two, so don't look here in the hall - try something more in the open. it may not look like a pillar at all. it wouldn't need to be so wide to contain a principality."

They looked to Crowley, "Do you know what you've started in motion, Demon Crowley?"

"Something that's going to piss off Gabriel and Micheal. Hopefully something that gets me my friend back. After that, i don't really care."

"You may have started a new rebellion."

"Demon, remember. I don't care. I'm selfish. I just want Aziraphale back."

the problem was, the throne could follow what Crowley was doing, but their energy was to similar to the seal holding the other thrones in place and couldn't break though it.

or, cancel it out, which is apparently what was happening, as Quelamia watched him break out another throne.

"Azbuga," Quelamia grated, the two mingling for a moment, the first touch either had in centuries, and Crowley tried to give them the space they clearly needed, not wanting to rush them, but the daunting realization that the angels where not going to be angel to free themselves. It was very likely that he archangels that trapped them i the first place where not able to undo what they had done. the prison had failed to respond to Quelamia's power at all, and Crowley was going to be the only one to undo it.

he could free these angels, and risk never finding Aziraphale.

or he could abandoned Quelamia and Azbuga to the archangels, abandoned the hundred of thrones watching him even now, the air prickling with terrified hope, and leave - to try and find a friend that he had no idea where to look. he'd thought Aziraphale was here, in this hall. that's where it felt like he was, but as far as his eyes could see there was only thrones, and an occasional dominion. no principalities anywhere.

He *could* help these angels. He could *maybe* help Aziraphale.

He approached the next pillar; even then, he would run out of energy eventually. never mind the question of what had stopped time in the first place, and how long would it hold.

He pushes those down, breaking free a third throne. Quelamia called them aside, and soon they and Azbuga are scattering off into the light. the First throne then comes to Crowley's side, helping him find the weak point faster. One buy one, Crowley freed the angels, and Quelamia scattered them throughout the room.

A dozen or so angels down, one of them returned, and Crowley watched them whisper with Quelamia for a time. The Throne then approached the demon. "Crowley, we have a request. A ... priority angel we'd like you to release. We believe they could help us find your angel faster."

"my.. my angel?"

"Yes, i've had them looking for the newer angels that have been imprisoned. we have been trying to establish where in the timeline we are right now, so better figure out which way to travel."

He was so thrown by the fact an angel would think to help him that he didn't move for a moment, until the throne looped a ring around him, herding him away less he mingle with exposed angelic true form.
mekachu04: original posts (Default)
"who are you Demon? Why have you come to Heaven?" the angel accused, "To spread discord and strife?"

any sympathy Crowley had was gone in a flash, and he tensed up, frowning, "sorry freeing you was a stain on heaven's reputation, won't do it again. i'll just be getting my friend, and leaving. promise i won't try to help anybody else again."

the throne looks ashamed at least, its form moving cautiously, as if to gesture for Crowley to wait. "Why did you free me, truly?"

"How could i not...." he looked helplessly at the collection of trapped angels. "Are you all... aware? because it... it looks like you are."

"we are," conceded the throne.

"I came up here to rescuse my friend, and to leave. so yes. in a way, i'm here to spread strife, sure. But.. that's not my endgame. I just want my friend."

"Your friend, are they another demon?"

"Satan no! no, they're the best damn angel left around here!.... and .... i just can't get anybody up here to realize that." he trailed off, glaring down at his own clenched fists.

the throne softened around the edges, "I haven't heard either side talk about the other like that in a very long time demon." it murmured, a soft sad chime of bells.

Swallowing thickly, Crowley force himself to relax, unclenching his fists. "Crowley."

"Hello Crowley, it's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Quelamia. Thank you. for freeing me."

Crowley nodded, feeling calmer.

"Please show me how to free the others, so we can help you find your friend. The angel."

As he looked across the pillars of angels, looking at them, watching him in return, he fought down equal measure of rage and dispair.

Heaven had not been the good guys for a very long time, a fact Crowley had never disputed. But this.. This was beyond the pale. legions of angels hidden away for eternity.

Something that could have happened at anytime to his own angel, and he never would have known. something that MIGHT HAVE happened to his own angel, looking out on the see of prisoners, yet no spark of his own friend anywhere.

and he damned the archangels, he cursed god, and help back his own tears of frustration. because... because he might be a demon.. but he couldn't just leave. Aziraphale was possibly here, but he might not be. and Crowley knew he couldn't turn his back now. as long as time was suspended, he couldn't just ... leave them to this.

He was going to have to ... he was doing to have to set aside saving Aziraphale, in order to try and free an flock of strangers, all who might smite him at any point, because... well why wouldn't they. he didn't know them. they didn't know him.

He was just.. a demon, after all.

he focus on the binding of the first angel he'd found, feeling out the elements woven into existence in front of him not unlike how he'd broken the spell on the pillars. ti was like someone had stuffed the angel in a marble tube, then poured in resin that filled every dimension except the ones with the eyes.

there was no emotion to them, just swiveling eyes that tracked his movements, a ripple in space as they opened and closed. he didn't know how much control the angel had on the eyes, but it was clear that the outer pillar had something to it to mask their presence. with out the stone, more and more popped into this dimension.

it should be nerve wreaking, being watched so intently. but they didn't seem demanding, or urgent. if anything they watched him with a mix of humor and pity - like they didn't expect him to succeed, but it's not like they had anything else to focus on in the mean time.

Crowley could feel the straight starting to get to him, following threads that didn't belong as he searched for a week spot, a pressure building in his head. it was solid work, meticulously laid. But he'd crawled into Eden. he knew that all it took was the slightest weak spot. just the right bit of pressure, a spark of occultist power to the space between atoms and then....

He was thrown, quite painfully, into a angel behind him as the world around him flashed with heaven's wrath and wings and wheel and flames exploded into existence. there where no human words for (species), more concept than physical, and Crowley winced as he drug his corporation back upright to stare down at the newly freed angel.

it was staring right back a him, oozing confusion, and disbelieving, true form expanding out after being compacted for Crowley didn't know how long. the angel didn't even seem to realize, too flabbergasted that Crowley had succeed.

it never was more apparent until then that time was still frozen, the eyes are locked unblinking at the two of them, no sound in existence except the new burning of an ethereal core alight again after centures (at least)

"Demon..." it said finally, and Crowley flinched at the unfiltered voice of heaven ripping into his brain. the (species) adujested itself; Crowley assumed it was putting itself back into rights, but he couldn't recall at the moment what they usually looked like in the first place, she had no frame of reference. instead he adjusted his glasses against the holy glow and check to make sure his ears wheren't bleeding.

The angel must had gotten the hint, because when it spoke again, it was the bell chimes of an angelic whisper, "Why?"

"if it was just one of you, than i figure you musta done something wrong."" he said finally, standing back up with a wince, "But... this many? I knew something was rotten in heaven, but this is too many."

"It is a sin to question the Archangels."

"Then you should have fallen. because this... this is torture. Locked up and forgotten? we don't even do that."

the once ever present beat of time's sand tricking by is quiet, leaving only the inconsequential hammering of his own corporeal heart to fill the silence. he's on edge, waiting for the other proverbial shoe to drop - what has saved him from the wrath of heaven now hunting him in the drag between seconds.

a pause in time this great would have let him empty and drained by now - it would have consumed his own essence to maintain a (hold this long) yet what ever is here seems unrushed and content to only watch him. stalk him.

the baser part of him - the part so unconcerned with the plight and well being of others that caused him to ask callous questions, so hatefully sow discord and distress in his fellow angels that he knew in his heart absolute why he'd been shunned from their ranks - tell shim to press this advantage; to flee while its grasp was still strong and get as far away from heavens great hall in the between-time, to distance himself from the smiting that would no doubt be organized against him as soon as time regained it footing.

the other part of him - the part that once asked a specific angel such cruel questions, only to feel a rush of shame and awe when they blurted out the truth in a rush to someone they knew would hold it against them, to feel a sense of protectiveness toward an enemy so terrified of their choice to help they sought solace in the first being to approach them, never you mind if that was a demon - knew that they could never turn away alone now; they marched on heaven for a reason, and the only acceptable failure in that goal was annihilation. regardless of the outcome, they would never be able to pull this trick a second time. there was no live to fight another day this time.

this wasn't a go big or go home moment. this was a save Aziraphale, because there was no home without him.

He returns back to Micheal. he's already proven this is worth fighting for. he's not going to run away, even form the eyes in the dark. or rather. the eyes in the light.

thousands of them, staring at him around every pillar...

he stops, regarding the pillar closest to him very carefully.

it's not /like/ the pillar is staring at him, the pillar /is/ staring at him. they all are. as far as his senses stretched, they are watching him.

he stalks around the nearest one, and there is a ripple in space, the eyes are not following him so much as new opens opening to watch him, ones that cant see him closing back into the ether.

either the pillar is not a pillar at all, or there is something /inside/ the pillar, looking out though the spaces between atoms back at him.

Something here has manipulated time, but it's more than that, there is a manipulation of space going on too. he can feel it now, hands pressed against stone as his senses press against...

a prison cell. there is an angel inside this pillar - frozen and trapped - staring back at him.

It feels like an (angel class meant to be at god's side), but Crowley's not sure - he's not even sure he's met any even before the Fall.. and.

And.

and he's never even heard of one that Fell.

Before the archangels colluded with Beelzebub for Hellfire - what *did* Heaven do with decedenters? Aziraphale surely couldn't have been the only one to get tripped up in six thousand years, yet there had not been a single new Fallen Angel since the first batch...

with a dawning new horror, Crowley refused to glance around again, at the hall of never ending light. How many.....

Concern about lurking predictors pushed completely from his mind, Crowley pressed his own infernal power into the energy holding the pillar together. He pushed until the facade of stone failed, and he came face to faze with an angel, twisted and contorted, incomprehensible ethereal form trapped and frozen in place.

only the eyes could move, opening and watching him, likely as they'd been doing with everyone to pass though this hall since they'd been (incarcerated). He turned to another pillar, pressing into it, the facade crumbling easier now that he knew how. anther (type of angel).

and again - and other (type).

and again - this time a field angel.

fear, and rage, and disgust, and outrage building, Crowley let loose an out power of power, rippling put across dozens of pillars, all falling away to reveal the same.

hundreds of angels, trapped, looked back at him.

thousands more watched, still unseen.

the fact the eyes rippled in and out of existence as he moved meant that the time lock effecting the unbound angels was completely different that whatever held them (unmoving)
mekachu04: original posts (Default)
The worse part is, Aziraphale's here. Somewhere. But Crowley has no idea where to start looking. The white halls and stone pillars stretch out as far as his senses can reach, and the feeling of his friend gets no stronger or weaker in any direction he turns.

It's only the manged discarded corporation of Micheal on the floor that orientates him at all - a feat he is assuredly going to freak out about later, but there is no time for that now.

He can't even get a sense if this is even the correct part of heaven Aziraphale has been hidden away in; he has no idea if he's even looking in the right place.

He uses the archangel as a marker for how far he goes, looking at floor and ceiling for any hint of what he's searching for, testing the space between every pillar for a hint of a hidden tear that Aziraphale may have been pushed through.

it all feels the same, and Crowley rages - rages or he would cry - as his search spirals him farther and farther away with no change.

The longer he spends looking the sooner he will get found out - Micheal wouldn't go quietly, the archangel no doubt in some far corner of paradise raising an army of some kind to destroy Crowley in retaliation. but each heart beat offers no clues to his search, and he's away that his breathing is hitching towards hysterical.

Still no Aziraphale. still no clues or hints, and he's gotten to far, and he's so close, he knows - HE KNOWS this is the right place even if nothing he finds can corroborate the feeling.

He feels ill, stomach churning - if he'd eaten anything this month it would no doubt had made a reappearance - his head spinning, and he going to die here. the archangels are going to obliterate him, and he's failed, and he can't save Aziraphale, and there's not enough time, and any moment now they're going to storm the hall, and.. ()

and...

and.

He freezes, heart and breath stopping, listening to the room.

there's nothing.

at all.

the angels should have swarmed him by now. its taken too long. time might be funny when you leave earth, but this is the pale...

he stalks back to Micheal, forcing himself to look at the damage he inflicted on the mortal vessel.

the blood hasn't even begun to pool yet. Her vessel hasn't even finished falling, head still caught a hands breath from the clean polished tile of heaven's floor.

Time hasn't just gone funny, it's stopped completely.

Crowley scrambles away, terror leaching into his bones.

he doesn't understand. very few things fill him with the terror of not knowing what's going on, and he looks across the cold white open air, looking for ... anything...

he didn't do this. he didn't stop time. so something else did. something else is here in the empty place with him.

it's not the other angels he has to worry about, he realizes. because whatever it is... it's already here.

[[Crowley knows the dangers of playing with time - not just the power needed for such a feat - but that as dangerous as slowing time is, stopping it altogether is extremely dangerous. time is a force more powerful and inevitable than death, and also one as meaningless and inconsequential as (???) But it must move forward. Crowley isn't even completely sure the Almighty can combat time.

But it's not just that time must march forward as so much as that during its ever eternal march... things has come into existence that live in the spaces between beats. Crowley has only encountered them in stories of those who managed to survive long enough to rejoin time, but there are things that exist there solely to feed on what tries to escape (time's) march.]] [cut all of htis]

there is something lurking in the bright pure void of heaven. something powerful and all consuming, and it's looking for Crowley.

no.. it's looking at Crowley.

it's like every pillar are eyes, staring accusedly at him, sneering down at him in [judgement, but desperation].
