Summary:
Only one things changes. It shouldn't mean much, in the grand scale of things. One chromosome shifted. The story remains the same, the players unchanging in their roles. In every incarnation, Killer is Kidd's partner, and nothing will change that.
The story was already written. Their plight always set to follow this path. Nothing changes. Except...

Her time spent as Kamazo had been well spent, Kidd came to find out. When Killer was allowed freedom from her handlers to go assassinate whoever Orochi was cross with at any given the time, she took as long as she could possibly get away with, scouting and mapping out every part of Wano she could. The two of them slipped away from the Punk in the quiet morning, Killer moving through the scattering of towns and countryside like the shadow of death itself, Kidd following her lead just like the old days. They moved through Wano without so much as a second glance from the locals, even as Killer took them dangerously close to the center of one of the town centers.
She lifted food from a stall so smoothly, Kidd himself almost missed it, even as she passed the pilfered meal back to him. By the time they slipped back into the shadows, she'd snagged him a second round and was awkwardly shoving rice into her own mouth as they walked.

It's home... or the husk of home at least.

Their personal effects have been stripped out, the machinery and appliances gone. Nothing but bare wood and cabinetry.

They'd gone to find clothes for Killer first, only to find nothing at all. Her quarter's were completely bare. Her clothes, her masks, her knives. The mattress, the drapes from over the windows, the bottles of lotions and conditioners she hoarded in the privacy of her own room. Her drum kit, her music dials, her cook books, her collection of miniature little butterflies and wolverines - started by a tiny Kidd almost two decades ago.

Everything. All gone.

i really really keep trying to write baby kidd & killer

What sets this one apart is that it's also StrawHat heavy. It's the third attempt (one with Bonney, where they go back and forth of ages, and one where Killer is mystery child with Kidd as an adult) but for this one, both Kidd & Killer are 8 year old children.

Long and short, Sanji & Zoro are out doing a grocery run in some nameless town and they encounter two children running from an angry mob; one of them clearly has a devil fruit ( The question is why is a mob after a couple 8 year olds and what happen to Captain Kidd that an 8 year old has his devil fruit - assuming it's the jikijiki no mi and not some other metal effect fruit.

An 8 year old with wild red hair like sun rays and a second boy with unruly blond bangs obscuring his face. A blond with a painful smile and a red head with so much anger in his eyes. )

Having a bad feeling that this *is* Captain Kidd, and seeing the the blond is hurt, Sanji & Zoro hide them from the mob and convince them to come back to the Sunny and let Chopper look them over.

Besides being children, it looks like their memories are also from the age of 8. Kidd doesn't understand what happen to his arm and doesn't have very good control over his fruit. And not only does Killer not know why he keep laughing - he doesn't know who Kidd is yet.

Some darker themes are explored in the possible up bring the boys had, and Sanji find himself bonding with a child who tries to stab him with one of his own kitchen knifes; a child that might have alot more in common with sanji's upbring than he's like. Luffy learns some things about the way they got treated when this small that makes him want to go punching some people, and leaves Kidd pondering over what Luffy thinks a Pirate Captain is.

It's not all doom and gloom, Luffy and Kidd get on like a house on fire and Kidd follows Nami around like a ducking. Killer's trying to copy everything Zoro and Sanji do; Franky gets to bond with little South-Blue bros. Usopp gets to be the brave one and helps Killer with his hair, and Kidd isn't only NOT afraid of Robin's powers, the little shit keeps demanding she 'lend him a hand'
