there is a great an terrible beast in the south east.

Everyone knows it, even if no one agrees on the beast, or why its terrible.all crowley knows is that people like him don't make it thought he area at night, and if we really must pass though, he best do it early int he day.

he had no real burning need to see the ships making their way across the sea, but he did have a burning curisoity, and often, for him, it was jsut as bad. After the end, human's stopped traviling across the water, their numbers to low to risk such long journays. but they'd started again, an it had been so long since he;d seen new ones.....

it was no trouble to pullhis body in on itself, fold up into a smaller, more agily form, taking to the sky this time though, instead of the ground. maybe if he flew over hte woods, whatever mnster had moved in would let him by.

there where lots of mosters around, many more than humans. they some times looked human, but what set them apart is that sometimes they did not. humans might change size, but they where always human. it used to be that humans died, but as of late, it seemed like some one them didn't like that idea, so they didn't anymore. but no mater what new things they could do - alot of it just as 'magicaly' as corlwey, they where still human at the end of hte day.

the ones that didn't die carried their souls around in little gagits. crolwey was very carful to never le them know he was a monster.

strangely, whatever was in the woods didn't seem to know these new humans couldn't die - at least, if it didn't kill them, it certainly sent them away, and no one had found them yet. corlwey didn't want to know which it was, and cuaght a breeze higher over the tree tops.

unfortualy, even with wings, corlwey was all about dexirity over feroziousness,a nd he had to dive down into the leaves when he spied hawks hunting on the horizen. he was just a little magpie today - he could be a corw easily enough, but black birds mad humans wary,a nd he found that hte splash of wight not only put them at easy, but hte chidlren would clap and squee if he showed off alittle.

he realised his mistake almost immediatly, when the trees /shifted/ away from him, recoiling away like he was oil in the water. they wouldn't let him land, and he had to risk the gorund of the hawks.

He propbably should have chosen the hawks.

instead he glid down tot he earth - even the roots moved to avoid him, dragging back into the ground. he almost want to snake out and chase after them out of spite, but he knew that there was a time and a place for such michieve, and now was not it.

The canopy closed up above him,a nd the woods feel sliant. no bugs, no birds, no breeze.

But he was most certainly being watched......
