He's ten and he's in love.

Victoria is the divine incarnate, ineffability made flesh, and Kidd would worship at her altar until the oceans dried up and the world ended. His mother thinks he's being ridiculous, but Kidd will hear no blaspheme of the transcendent guardian nymph of Kutzk.

Kidd's world is about to be flipped upside down when the dark underworld Victoria moves about in comes creeping into the quiet life he and his mother have carved out for themselves
