it became established very early on that humans needed to eat, and preferable, they needed to eat ever day. procuing food became the main driving factor in those early days.
Encouraging humans to take life was a grey area. But after the first rain, azirpahle brought the huamns back to the lion, helped them portion the mea ; his sword cooking it and helping it last a little longer. He helped them break it down, cut away the skin, treat it to last. He would not aid in the hunting, but he would help the humans make sure that each kill served the lasrgest number of needs as they could.
Adam offered him a cut of the lion. Azirpahle shook is head, angels did not need to eat, and besides - it would go further to make the humans lives better if the kept it for themselves.
In the mean time, crawly lurked in the grasses, watching for other threats - snakes that would now bite, plants that burned when touched, (nee done more) -and helping htem sowrt out which plants would be useful. for weaving, for eating, for driving dangerous bugs agay. he helps them track which plants made them sick.
Eve cornered him one morening, a smirk on her face, holding out a red berry. He raised an eyebrow at her, "what is this?"
"Fruit. Berries. we've had them enough to be sure they're safe, even if they're red."
it was a shot at the graden, the alst red fruit to pass between them, but eve's face was kind. Is she said it was safe, she ment it. despite what had happen, she wouldn't poisen him on purpose. He took the small fruit from her hand, holding it up bewtten teo fingers. with a final smirk, he popped it in his mouth.
he could mask his face fast enough. eve's looked concerned, learning forward, "Crawly?"
He finished it - rud to spit it out - and shuddered, scraping his tounge aginst his teeth.
"Crawly, waht's wrong?"
"Like eating a fist full of dirt. dry and gravely."
She looked at him queerly, and he shook his head, trying to forget the taste. "I guess that's what She ment. Sorry Eve."
"What do mean...?"
"That crawly on my belly, eating dirt. tramled under the foot of men bit after She found out about how i tricked you."
Eve studied the berries in her hands. "Paradase was ... it was wonderful. I would do anything i think.. to go back."
crawly lowed his head, but she continied on, "But i would have never understood that if i never left. I had expertanced nothing yet to make Parade... worth it. How long can that kind of happyness last?"
"Still, i .. i didn't think She would kick you out like that."
"i know that. and Adam knows that. You could of left us at anytime. you didn't have to come with us. and even after that - you didn't have to help ut. [Abel] loves you, and ... well, i feel safer at night, i can sleep soundly, knowing you and azirpahle are out there."
"now, dont' go sayting that to anyone. could get me in losta trouble, my side finding out i'm here, helping."
"Helping... like [insert pranks nad troub;e]"
"That;s my girl."
